This site is basically to introduce myself and my interests.
Building web sites is I suppose my main hobby. My other
hobbies include: Karaoke; Family History; Bird Watching (the feathered
kind - Carol may be looking!) and Quiz night at our local club.
Building web sites:
To build my web sites, I use FrontPage™,
which comes with Microsoft's 'Office'. I know a little HTML but not enough
to 'hard code' a web site. Using FrontPage™
is much easier as it has many built in wizards to help you. A big plus
from my point of view is that you can upload your site using
FrontPage™ extensions directly from the
program itself. If you are not familiar with FTP (file transfer protocol),
this makes uploading your site a doddle!
Karaoke:
I've been interested in Karaoke for some time now, however
I've always liked music and Karaoke is the perfect outlet for all those,
like myself who enjoy singing but are not perhaps quite ready for entering
the charts! It's usually a fun night with friends and/or family at a local
pub where we can enjoy ourselves and have a laugh. I do a brilliant
version of Elvis' 'Wonder of You', with a close friend Kim. Kim also gets
them up dancing with her interpretation of 'Da Do Ron Ron'! I'd recommend
Karaoke for anyone wanting a great night out.
Family History:
Carol (my wife) and I have been researching our family
tree for several years now. It's a great way to get to know your present
family, some of whom you may have not seen for some time and also to learn
about those who went before us. Some famous; some infamous but all very
interesting! Have a go yourself - take a look at some of our family
history sites detailed on the home page - you'll love it. You'll also get
to know and maybe meet lots of relatives you were unaware of.
Carol is the driving force for our research and this is
reflected in the Ancestral
Ackroyds web site which she looks after. It's well worth a look if
you are interested in the Ackroyd name. Whilst Carol has a vast amount of
information on this site, it still only contains a mere fraction of what
we have on file!
Our Family
History For All site is all about helping YOU to learn how to
trace your family tree! Bird Watching:
Bird watching is another recent hobby that I've taken up.
So far it's been limited to feeding wild birds in the garden and I will be
venturing out with my binoculars in the near future.
Sitting at the table watching the birds feeding is very
relaxing. We get quite a range of birds visiting the feeding station. Up
to now some of the birds I've spotted are: wood pigeon; collared dove; the
odd feral pigeon; starling; house sparrow; blue tit; chaffinch; robin;
blackbird and siskin. There are others that I haven't yet identified - one
of which I think is the pied wagtail.
